What is the oil tan delta tester?

2024-12-05

The insulation oil dielectric loss and resistivity testeris designed and manufactured according to GB/T5564-2007, "Measurement of Relative Permittivity, Dielectric Loss Factor, and DC Resistivity of Liquid Insulation Materials." It is used to measure the dielectric loss factor and DC resistivity of liquid insulation media such as insulating oil. The instrument features an integrated structure, with key components such as the dielectric loss oil cup, temperature controller, temperature sensor, dielectric loss testing bridge, AC test power supply, standard capacitor, high Resistance Meter, and DC high-voltage source all built in. The instrument adopts fully digital technology, offering intelligent and automated measurements. It is equipped with a large color LCD display, a fully Chinese menu, and step-by-step Chinese prompts. The test results can be automatically stored and printed, allowing operators to use the instrument proficiently without professional training.transformer oil dielectric loss tester

The specific method is as follows:

1.If the transformer oil contains a lot of impurities, it must be filtered using oil filter paper, and then poured into the oil cup for testing.

2.After each sample is completed, add 20 ml of petroleum ether to the oil cup, drain off the petroleum ether, add another 20 ml of petroleum ether, and then discharge the petroleum ether again. After this, perform an empty cup calibration experiment. The temperature needs to be set to 90 °C until the empty cup calibration test is completed. The empty cup value should not be saved, and the residual petroleum ether should be allowed to evaporate. For specific operations, please refer to the operation video of transformer oil dielectric loss tester.

3.After every 20 oil samples, the oil cup needs to be disassembled, and any remaining impurities in the oil cup should be wiped out with absolute ethanol. For specific operations, please refer to the operation video of transformer oil dielectric loss tester.

Because the distance between the inner and outer electrodes of the oil cup is 2 mm, impurities in the oil can easily cause a short circuit under the high-voltage conditions of the oil cup, potentially damaging the instrument. Therefore, the cleanliness of the oil cup should be maintained at all times.
