Partial discharge in electrical equipment refers to electrical discharges that do not cause a complete short circuit between electrodes. These discharges typically have small amplitudes, but they can continuously degrade insulation, potentially leading to eventual failure. Live-line partial discharge detection provides a fast and simple method to identify potential insulation faults that could cause power outages or personal injury.
